IOT Based Vehicle Accident Detection (With GPS and GSM module)


  • This project is based on IoT. Internet of things is a network of physical devices embedded with electronics, software’s, sensors, actuators, and connectivity which enables these things to connect and exchange data. This connects the physical world with computer based systems, which results in efficiency improvements, economic benefits and less human exertions.
  • In this project we will use a system that will monitor the position of the vehicle with the use of GPS which is global positioning system. GPS is used to track the location of the object on which it is embedded.
  • The purpose of this project is to monitor the status of the vehicle wirelessly. In case an accident is detected, a notification regarding this will be generated.
  • A GSM module will also be used to send the message to the number in case of the accident.
  • For detecting accidents a system consisting of vibration sensor will be used.
  • To control the function of all these sensors and devices a microcontroller will be used. The microcontroller will have a Wi-Fi module in to connect the whole system with the cloud server.
  • This system has variety of application in real world and now a day’s all vehicles are equipped with GPS to track the vehicle. This system will serve the purpose of security system as well as will have feature to notify the close ones in case of accident.
  • A database of hospitals will be provided on the cloud server and an alert will be sent to the nearest hospital to the vehicle in case of accident.
